The chef is clearly very good at his craft. Everything was delicious. If we are to go again, I would like to try even more items on the specials menu. Although the leg of duck is in everyone’s opinion the best main course of all!

Picture 2 travelers at a crosswalk in Hamilton wondering out loud which pub to check out, and out of nowhere, this man - Ben - comes around and gives awesome suggestions. Needless to say, he is a local, but also mentions that he is the head chef at Mad Hatters and that we should try and check it out while on vacation. Fast forward to NYE's eve and we decided to take our chance to grab seats as walk-ins the moment they opened. We weren't able to call ahead as we only had internet service on our phones. The host, although doubtful, was kind enough to check and luckily there were 2 seats, orchestra nonetheless, that we just needed to vacate by 8pm.
The restaurant atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for – intimate, but not stiff. The menu was small and made it easy to choose, but also challenging to not want to order everything! We ordered bacon-wrapped scallops with a pepper, mango, tamarind glaze for appetizers, and the sauté rock fish with a banana nut crust & dark n’ stormy sauce and surf and turf special for our entrees. Let me tell you, we were so glad that this was our last dinner before leaving Bermuda. Everything was so good, and you can tell that the dishes were made to order and fresh! Ben, as it turns out is not just the head chef, but also part-owner. During service, he casually sang and danced his way out of the kitchen, spotted us, and made sure to acknowledge that he remembered us, and he was thankful we were able to dine in, as we were just as thankful for the pub recommendations and leading us to his restaurant. He even invited us for champagne for their New Year’s Eve celebration at midnight! If only we weren’t flying back home in the morning...
If there’s one place worth checking out and dining to when you’re in Bermuda, it’s definitely at Mad Hatter’s. Fine dining, but with a relaxed atmosphere, outstanding food, and amazing people.

Disappointing! Ordered the grilled lettuce and shrimp and the portion size was very small (4 shrimp). The main dish was sea bass and it was good but the sides were very small. Very expensive for what we ordered. Better values elsewhere.

This is a must! Must try the lamb and wahoo skewers. Perfectly seasoned 10/10. Fresh ingredients, will come back to Mad Hatters.
